Beware of “The Neighbor”

October 23rd, 2007 Posted in Neighborhood Disruptions

A few weeks ago I had the door bell ring in the afternoon, typically I do not answer the door when it is a stranger and I am alone but by the time I got to the door he was at the street so I opened it.  At that point he told me he was my neighbor and gave me his name and address on my street, he continued to tell me how his son was in an accident and taken to the hospital, his car was in the shop and he needed to borrow enough money for a cab $25.00, he promised to bring it back that night.  I’m still waiting for him to come back.

When I was at a neighbors home the next week, I shared this story, “Our” neighbor went on to tell the same story,  she lives about 9 blocks over and got the same guy with a similar sad story, she new the address he gave did not exist as she closed the door.  Lucky her, stupid me.    I’m wondering how many he actually duped in our neighborhood.  Beware of this guy, he wears a back pack and is tall with closely cropped hair early to mid thirties.

Please share any experiences you may have had with us.
